Wide Awake:2018 Grassroots political stories from the Keystone State
Politics. Everyone talks about it. Few actually do anything. Here are the stories of the doers: Republicans and Democrats in Pennsylvania who are engaged in the 2018 campaign from the ground up.
Our goal is to inspire our viewers to do the same across this nation, in the midterm elections and beyond.
ABOUT THE FILM
In the 2016 presidential election, the once-Democratic counties of eastern Pennsylvania reversed decades of precedent with a surge that delivered the Keystone State to Donald Trump. Facing the critical 2018 midterm elections, Democrats and Republicans alike are in sharp contention for seats in the U.S. House of Representatives. Can the GOP hold fast to their majority or will the Democrats generate the hoped-for Blue Wave that will flip Congress?
Our film will focus on the 2018 campaign in the 15th Congressional District of the Keystone State—the district that includes the “pivot” county that helped deliver Trump’s victory. With GOP moderate Charlie Dent retiring, the path to a Congressional seat is wide open. Many primary contenders, on both sides, are political neophytes driven by a passion for change: either to advance the Trump agenda or replace it.
America will be watching Pennsylvania’s 15th Congressional District and we will offer a “fly-on-the-wall” perspective on the activities of both major parties and the grassroots activists and media figures mobilizing each.
